Likewise, the majority of the significant events in the life of the Spider occurred in this comic book. Originally bimonthly, the series becomes monthly from its fourth issue. This rate of publication was maintained for a long time, although there were certain periods when the title sold well enough to allow it to become bimonthly, like from to In July , like all other Marvel Comics series, The Amazing Spider-Man saw a -1 as part of the Flashback Month, where the usual writers took a break from their ongoing plots to tell a story that had happened before the start of the series.
In January , the series restarted from 1 to mark the arrival of a new creative team and a change in the origins of the characters. In , the series resumed its original numbering on the occasion of On this occasion, the title underwent significant editorial changes: the periodicity goes from monthly to quarterly and the creative team is replaced by a rotation of several writers and artists. This lasted from February to November ; a total of issues were published.
The series returned in April The first series with this title debuted in Mark Harrison MHarrison Mark is a writer from Middlesbrough, who once drunkenly tried and failed to pitch a film about his hometown to a director from Pixar. The villain If nothing else, Dylan Baker can take comfort in the fact that his Lizard probably would have been better, had the cancelled Spider-Man 4 come to pass. Written by Mark Harrison MHarrison Worse, Electro was poorly handled as a guy who loves — then outright hates — Spider-Man for weak reasons.
Or Sandman, who escapes a life in prison only to succumb to a life of being immaterial. I looked forward to Dane Dehaan as Green Goblin, and overall, he was fine. Both costumes are pretty unimpressive, but at least SM gave Dafoe a better reason for being insane enough to wear green armor.
Spider-Man looks and moves like Spider-Man. What more could you want? But SM trilogy has superior action scenes. That said, we already evaluated these movies for story, so I have to set that aspect of the scenes aside.
Watching Spider-Man in action was more thrilling in these movies, even without all of the emotional buildup done so well by SM trilogy. While I appreciate SM for giving this relationship time to develop, it was smart of Sony to give us something new to watch with Peter and Gwen, and they pretty much nailed it. And this goes beyond the chemistry between actors. Watching her solve problems and be an ally to Spider-Man was something fans wanted a long time ago, and Sony delivered.
But overall, TASM gave us a more captivating romance. Without a doubt, J. Simmons was perfectly casted as J. She lived and breathed the character, while Sally Fields gave us a somewhat one-note performance. It was handled very well, and Garfield killed it in the scene. SM and SM2 had incredible stories that coincided with the odd premise of a man swinging around the city like a spider.
The first one nailed it as a coming-of-age story about an unassuming guy suddenly blessed with enormous gifts, learning how to use them with responsibility.
Both movies do a good job in this department, but SM trilogy is the true standout. Yet the story and villains of SM trilogy are true winners when it comes to coherence and direction. Sam Raimi defied that with his take on Spider-Man.
So what is the best overall experience of these movies? Which one had you leaving the theater with a big grin on your face? Not because I was expecting a whole new franchise universe of more movies I could spend money on, but because they delivered everything I wanted in a superhero movie, even before I loved superhero movies.
That said, I have to let my bias shine here at least more than usual. The Amazing Spider-Man is the name of the mainstream first spider-man series, set on in the main Marvel shared with other comics such as the main X-Men, Incredible Hulk, Fantastic Four comics universe that started in and is still going on with multiple releases in a month.
I'm guessing the reason it's called Amazing is due to Spider-Man originally appearing in Amazing Fantasy before getting his own series.
That's where the new movie series got the adjective from. The reason they choose it is to distinguish themselves from the previous trilogy. I don't think it's meant to indicate that the movies aim to more closely follow the storyline of the main comic. For one thing the director of the new movies said.
It's less based in Steve Ditko world and probably closer visually and more influenced by "Ultimate Spider-Man" but it is also very much a world of our own devising.
Ultimate Spider-Man is an alternative comic line and continuity, modernized and meant to be more accessible to readers not familiar with 50 years of back story. The reason for making a new Spider-Man movie universe so soon is financial probably because they made tons of money on the previous films, they also seem to be planning spin-off movies based on Spiderman Villains , I've fairly sure I've heard rumours in the past that Sony looses the rights to Spider-Man if they don't make enough movies but I can't find any credible statement or rumor about that right now.
The reason they didn't continue with the previous trilogy was due to disagreements with the producer Sam Raimi. The main difference is that one has an "internal webbing" Spiderman while the other uses "web cartridges" The Amazing Spiderman.
One of the main differences between the two series, is the fact that in The Amazing Spiderman , it showed more of a personal storyline of Spiderman and a strict detail of all of his actions in The Amazing Spiderman movies. The original Spiderman just showed sequence of events of a storyline, but in The Amazing Spiderman , you see Spiderman go through a real mission.
And another difference is that in The Amazing Spiderman , the actors displayed more emotions and real feelings than the actors in the original Spiderman movies. I have watched all original Spiderman movies and cartoon series but only movies of Amazing spiderman.
