Following a woman named Frankie, and her boisterous family, the Hecks.

Her husband, Mike, her daughter, Sue, and her two sons, Axl, and Brick go on what you might call family adventures as they explore life and its meaning. Mike and Frankie Heck watch their three crazy children grow up into young adults. Just like your family Not really. Well, maybe. Did you know Edit.

Trivia A house is constantly shown to the left, across the street, from the Hecks' home. This is the set house used in Bewitched To the right of the Hecks' home is the house used for The Partridge Family Goofs The interior layout of the house differs from the outside plan of the house.

Standing out front of the house there is the family room on the left, then the front door and dining room in the center, then the garage on the right. Meanwhile, Axl comes and talks to Sue and she thinks they are going to have their special moment, but instead, Axl is worried about Brick not being devasted enough about him moving out. Sue is upset at this because she is hellbent on having that special goodbye moment.

After learning that he will have a company car in Denver, the family is set to take Axl to Denver. Because of that, he holds a game between Sue and Brick where the winner gets his old car. Sue wins and Brick is a little upset. Later, Axl finds him in the car and that is when the two of them have a heart-to-heart.

Enter Sue to break up the Hallmark moment with her delightful sibling hysteria. This leads to a very touching scene — in its own Middle sort of way — between the siblings. As the family gets ready for the big Denver road trip, Brick and Sue argue over who is going to get the middle seat and Frankie is still playing it cool — until Mike gives Axl a special engraved watch as a going away gift. When Frankie sees this, she is immediately jealous and yells at Mike for having a heartfelt moment while she is playing it cool.

In the final moments of the show, Sean Beau Wirick comes back into the picture in a shoehorned, yet welcome side story. As he is about to get on the plane to Ghana, he gets stopped by security because they find a snow globe in his carry on. He goes after her while she is on the family road trip to Denver. See what I mean? It was shoehorned…but sweet. While in the car, Frankie has a breakthrough moment and let her feelings loose as they argue over the family cell phone plan. The Middle just wrapped its final season, but could there be another?

The comedy centers on the Hecks, a middle-class family living in the middle of the country. We had a whole board of stories we never got to. We felt it was a good time to end because we were all still loving it, loving each other, and enjoying ourselves. We never wanted to get to the point where we were retreading old stories, or anyone was feeling restless and wishing they were somewhere else. And what about a reboot? Our ratings have been great and ABC was very clear they did want more seasons — it was our decision to bring it to a close.

See you in ten years!
